The hated long gun registry is officially GONE !!!!! Yahoo! WE canucks have been waiting for this for many years! Never again will we knuckle under to the hated liberals! It ended at midnight tonight. The bill, c-19, got royal assent the afternoon of the 5 of April and is effective at midnight. This takes into affect accross Canada with the exception of the land of the lillypads. Quebec got a supreme court injunction to stop the destruction of Quebec residents gun records. this does not effect the destruction of NON frog Canadian records.

I've owned 3 #1's over the years (223, 22 Varminter, 220 Swift -all for P&V hunting), and shot many others friends had... they tended to be individually specific. While one might be a tack diver with loads worked up for it, another can still shoot patterns instead of groups, but most seemed to be somewhere in between. I've been a long time Ruger fan since I got my first SA revolver mid 60's, have owned a bunch of their products (still have several), but not so much of a fan for their #1's or 10/22's.

Low Wall's in 22 Hornet and 223 Rem and all used for long range P&V

I'm about to Aquire another toy... this time a Ruger # 1, varment HB in
.223 REM.
I plan on topping this with a high quality scope, most
likely a nightforce provided the "RSM" (Residential Sergeant-Major)
allows for the purchase.
Question is, how does the Ruger 1 stack
up against other varment rifles in the same class? (IE. single shot,
same calibre.) Anyone with knowledge on this would be a great help.
Thanks
Trooper

Hi Critrgetr.
As far as I know, for a bolt gun, all you would
need to do is neck size after the first firing. Levers and Autos are
different because they don't have the strong camming action that a
mauser action has.
Cheers,
Trooper

I've put a 40mm on a bull barrel with all Leo hardware and while it was close it was fine so a standard barrel contour should give you plenty of room. Leo has a chart at http://www.leupold.com/_pdfs/BaseFit_RingHght.pdf that may prove somewhat useful to you. Good luck, enjoy your new rifle.
