12. Me holding a net full of fish. "I've always been interested in different ways of hunting-I like to match the means to the particular animal (ever try blowgun hunting for red squirrels?--but that's another story.). I had a place north of Prince Albert, SK where I'd go and bow shoot suckers every spring. Since they were sometimes concentrated in pools, I brought along a throw-net that I'd cobbled together. I'd originally planned on using it to try and catch some dabbling ducks (oops, I wander). Anyway, before using the bow that day, I got out my net. On my first cast I caught all these fish (6 or 7). On the next cast I only got two or three, and it was down hill from there. My daughter was with me and I got here to take a series of pictures showing the total cast. Kinda neat, I thought. I'll digress again if I can, and tell you that at this very pool, Don H. once got four suckers with one shot from his bow-and landed all of them. With two consecutive shots he arrowed a total of seven fish (but only landed six-the third fish of one shot pulled free from the arrow and escaped. It was also there, one evening, that Don and I shot a hundred suckers each for a fellow who wanted them for bear baiting. I still laugh when I think of dropping 200 smelly suckers off at his house in the city that night to the consternation of both him and his wife-he was probably expecting only a dozen or two-and then driving away."
