6. The two Kens with a black fox. "Ken B. (who's a very accomplished big-game hunter) and I headed up into the provincial forest during the big game season one fall. That's why we're wearing colours. We split up to cover different areas hoping to luck onto a moose but I was more interested in varmint calling. Damned if I didn't call in a coyote at a small lake! I bagged him, then walked back out to the road and tried calling again as I headed for the general direction Ken had gone in his truck. He showed up a few minutes later and just as I was getting into the truck he jumped out quickly and loaded his rifle. I couldn't see anything from my angle but the shooting he was doing got me plenty excited. Sure enough, a coyote had come into the place where I had just been calling. Ken B. bagged him, but unfortunately it was one of the mangiest looking animals I'd ever seen. None-the-less, we stopped moose hunting and focused on the predators. Later that morning this black fox came in to my calling and Ken B. bagged him, too. My firearm that day was a Rem 870 with number 4 buckshot. Ken B. was shooting a BLR in .308. By-the-way, I'm the goofy-looking one in the yellow."
