Sam's Austrailian Varmints

Since their introduction by European/English settlers feral cats and foxes have readily adapted to the Australian environment by preying on native animals and birds which are particularly vulnerable because they have not developed defences against cats or foxes . They also prey on rabbits(another introduced pest) but the cat and fox have been a major factor in several species of unique Australian marsupials becoming extinct and others reaching endangered status. So, nearly all Australian shooters will shoot them on sight at every opportunity . Virtually all four legged game in Oz are introduced pests ie foxes, cats, pigs goats and deer. We don't shoot native animals because they are not pests(varmints) except for dingoes(native wild dog) or kangaroos in some instances and that can only be done legally with permits, usually by a professional shooter.
